Corrections Policy
Accuracy is fundamental to our mission. When we make mistakes, we correct them promptly and transparently. This policy explains how we handle corrections and how you can report errors.
How Errors Are Reported
We receive error reports through multiple channels:
- Correction Request Form — Use the form below to report errors directly
- Email — Contact our editorial team at corrections@taxcasereview.org
- Internal Review — Our editorial team conducts regular audits of content accuracy
- Source Updates — We monitor IRS publications and regulations for changes that affect our content
We review all error reports within 48 hours. Reports that include specific citations to authoritative sources are prioritized for faster resolution.
How Corrections Are Handled
Incorrect facts, figures, or citations are corrected immediately upon verification. A correction notice is added to the page explaining what was changed.
When IRS procedures or regulations change, we update content to reflect current requirements. The "Last Updated" date is changed accordingly.
When content is accurate but potentially misleading, we add clarifying language without a formal correction notice.
Spelling, grammar, and formatting errors are corrected without a correction notice unless they affected the meaning of the content.
How Revisions Are Documented
We maintain transparency through systematic documentation:
Correction Notices
Significant corrections include a visible notice at the top of the page stating:
- What was incorrect
- What the correct information is
- When the correction was made
Version History
Major content pages maintain an internal version history documenting all substantive changes, though this history is not publicly visible for most pages.
Timestamps
Every page displays:
- Published Date — When the content was first published
- Updated Date — When the content was last modified
- Reviewed Date — When the content was last reviewed for accuracy
